APDiving Rebreathers
The Ambient Pressure Diving Series of rebreathers are one of the most popular closed circuit rebreathers available today, the first version available to the public was the Inspiration CCR which has now become known as the "Inspiration Classic", this is an electronic controlled closed circuit rebreather which maintains a fixed partial pressure of oxygen (set point) this has the affect of giving maximum bottom time while keeping decompression penalties to a limit.
The Classic Inspiration is fitted with dual electronics (master and slave) for controlling the oxygen levels while maintaining a level of redundancy, this control was facilitated by means of a voting logic system which comprised of 3 cells that used the two closest and voted out the third, while continually monitoring all 3 for a change in the voting. the unit was fitted with 3 litre cylinders for both oxygen and diluent.
The scrubber is of an axial design and holds 2.45 kilos of Sofnolime (1-2.5mm granules) which is held between two scrim clothes to eliminate dust particles, the recommendation was to replace this after 3 hours usage at 1.6lpm CO2 production.
The remainder of the breathing loop consists of a closeable mouth piece flexible breathing tubes and a pair of flexible counter lungs.
Introduction of the Evolution
After the success of the Inspiration Classic A.P.Diving released the Evolution which took the electronic CCR to the next level.
The Evolution was built on the proven technology of the Classic and introduced some new concepts. the main changes were in the electronics, and the introduction of a HUD head Up Display. this new version of the electroncs was called the "Vision" electronics.
The new electronics moved from the handsets to within the canister which increased unit integrity, the display unit was now a metal case containing a disply system for both sets of controllers and also had a fully programable trimix computer based on Buhlmann gradient factors built into it.
in addition to this a temperature based CO2 scrubber monitor was introduced, this system basically tracked the reaction front within the scruuber by its thermal signature and gives the user a good indication as to scrubber life and efficiency.
the unit was reduced in size considerably by reducing the cylinder size to 2 litres and the scrubber was reduced to holding 2.1 kilos of sofnolime, which reduced the recommended 3 hours down to 2 hours.
The new version of the electronics were then introduced onto the Inspriation to form the "Inspiration Vision". this then gave the user the option of the larger scrubber and cylinders while maintaining the new functionality of the Vision Electronics.
Future Developments 
A.P Diving has now announced the release of the new "Evolution Plus" which will bring the duration of the Inspiration to the compact size of the Evolution this is by means of a new case that will house the Inspiration scrubber and the evolution 2 litre cylinders thus giving a more compact and lighter unit with the extended duration.
Also due for release during 2008 second quarter is the A.P Diving BOV (Bail Out Valve) this is a mouthpiece with three states, Closed, Open to rebreather, and Open to Open circuit bail out. this will rapidly give the diver bailout gas without the need to remove the mouthpiece from the mouth.
