What is "Technical Diving"
For motivated divers that enjoy a challenge and wish to explore areas normally beyond the scope of a recreational diver, we offer a full range of technical Courses.
Is technical diving for you
Technical Diving is not for everyone, there is a considerable time and financial commitment and importantly there is also added risk as a diver, this risk is managed through advanced diver skills, theory and equipment management, the courses are both challenging and rewarding, with The Dive Shop we can train you all the way up to Advanced Trimix diver which will qualify you to dive to 100 metres this can be done on both Open Circuit and of course on a Rebreather which is explained on the rebreather page.
What is required to start a technical Course
Due to the challenging nature of the courses the entry standards are high and as you progress further down the technical route the prerequisites increase.
What courses are available
Here at the dive shop we offer courses by both The Professional Scuba Association
International (PSAI) and DSAT Tec Rec courses (PADI) click here to see the list of courses on offer.
Technical Diving Equipment Considerations
One of the first things you will see that differs from technical diving to your recreational diving is the equipment, Technical divers tend to Favour Back Plates, Harnesses and Wings with redundant inflation bladder, technical divers will tend to go with DIN regulators as opposed to the International or A clamp system again having 2 bottles on the back with 2 first stages and two second stages, the bottle will have a manifold for isolation again giving redundancy and self sufficiency. with this added equipment we will teach you how to manage this extra task loading and how to manage all forseable emergencies in a quick efficient and autonomous manner. the courses as previously stated are challenging but they are also very rewarding allowing you to safely venture further than you probably thought you could.
Wish to start but dont have the Equipment
If you wish to begin a Technical Course please contact us with your requirements and we will best advise you on the route to take, we have a complete range of rental equipment including rebreathers should they be required. we will give you a full breakdown of the course and tell you what will be expected from you...we will guide and teach you all is required the rest is down to you just remember......Courses are paid for...but certifications are EARNT!!
